BCCI Unveils IPL 2025-2027 Schedules with Major Announcements and Player Updates

In an unprecedented move, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed the schedules for the next three seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The much-anticipated 2025 season will run from March 14 (Friday) to May 25 (Sunday), marking the beginning of a new cycle of exciting cricket action. Following this, the schedules for the next two IPL seasons have also been set:

  • 2026 Season: March 15 (Sunday) to May 31 (Sunday)
  • 2027 Season: March 14 (Sunday) to May 30 (Sunday)

The release of these dates several months in advance is a significant shift from previous years, where the schedule would often be announced at the last minute. This proactive approach has been attributed to the IPL’s now well-defined international window, allowing teams, players, and fans to plan better, ensuring minimal clashes with international commitments. The BCCI’s decision is seen as a long-awaited move toward providing more structure and certainty for all involved in the tournament.

Jofra Archer’s Full Availability for IPL 2025-2027

In another landmark announcement, the BCCI confirmed the availability of England’s star fast bowler, Jofra Archer, for the entirety of the 2025 IPL season. Known for his pace and match-changing abilities, Archer’s inclusion is a huge boost for the league and his franchise. The player has committed to playing all three seasons in the current IPL cycle, 2025-2027, making him one of the key attractions of the upcoming seasons.

Though Archer will be positioned towards the end of the auction register as Player No 575, he is expected to enter the accelerated bidding process once the first 116 players have been picked. His base price is anticipated to be in the INR 2 crore bracket, but considering his immense impact on the game, the bids for him could easily skyrocket.

In addition to Archer, two more exciting names—Saurabh Netravalkar from the USA (Player No 576) and Hardik Tamore from MCA (Player No 577)—have also been added to the auction list, increasing the anticipation for the upcoming auction.

BCCI Flags Bowlers for Suspect Actions

The BCCI has also released an important update on player actions, particularly in regard to bowlers suspected of having illegal bowling actions. Manish Pandey and Shrijith Krishnan have been banned from bowling due to concerns over their actions.

More concerningly, Deepak Hooda, an off-spinner from the Rajasthan Cricket Association, has been flagged as having a suspect action. He joins Saurabh Dubey and KC Cariappa, who have also been placed under scrutiny. These early notifications are part of the BCCI’s ongoing commitment to maintaining the integrity of the tournament and ensuring that players comply with international standards. This proactive action serves to safeguard the league’s reputation while ensuring fair play for all participants.

BCCI’s Focus on Transparency and Planning

This early release of the IPL schedules, combined with timely updates on player availability and actions, reflects the BCCI’s increasing commitment to transparency and better planning. With the next few seasons being a critical phase in the evolution of the IPL, the BCCI’s moves signal an era of more structured and well-managed tournaments, where all stakeholders can align their strategies well in advance.

For players, franchises, and fans alike, these updates provide ample time to prepare for what promises to be a thrilling period of IPL action, with star players, high-intensity matches, and dramatic finishes on the horizon. As the 2025 season draws nearer, the excitement continues to build, and all eyes will be on the auctions and the star players who are poised to light up the IPL stage.
