Cricketers have always had their unique ways of celebrating major tournament victories, reflecting the team’s culture, the significance of the win, and their individual styles. From champagne showers to energetic laps around the stadium, celebrations often include national flags, playful antics, and impromptu dance performances.
Back in 2013, after India clinched the ICC Champions Trophy under MS Dhoni’s leadership by defeating England in the final at Edgbaston, Virat Kohli stole the show with his Gangnam Style dance moves and pushups, entertaining his teammates and fans alike.
Fast forward to March 9, 2025—India secured their third Champions Trophy title by defeating New Zealand by four wickets in the final in Dubai. This time, it was Shreyas Iyer who took center stage, flaunting his signature dance moves, often seen on social media, as the team celebrated their latest triumph.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) shared a nostalgic clip featuring both Kohli’s 2013 performance and Iyer’s 2025 celebration, captioning it, “Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer sure know how to groove.”
With this victory, India surpassed Australia’s two-title record, adding to their previous triumphs in 2002 and 2013. Remaining unbeaten in the eight-nation tournament held in Pakistan and the UAE, India reaffirmed their status as the top-ranked ODI team. Notably, all of India’s matches were played in Dubai, as the team opted not to travel to Pakistan, the official host of the tournament.
