US Kicks Off Largest Deportation Operation Under Trump’s Administration
The White House confirmed the launch of a large-scale deportation effort on Friday, marking the beginning of what President Trump has called a necessary action to address illegal immigration. The initiative aligns with his earlier promises to enforce strict policies against those who enter the United States without authorization.
In a statement shared on X, the White House reiterated that those who cross the US border illegally would face “serious consequences,” underscoring Trump’s stance on immigration.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt detailed the commencement of deportation operations, with 538 individuals—among them a suspected terrorist, members of the Tren de Aragua gang, and several criminals convicted of sex offenses against minors—being arrested. Leavitt also announced that military aircraft had been used to deport hundreds of illegal immigrants, calling this operation “the largest mass deportation operation in US history.”
The operation comes after Trump’s pledge to crack down on illegal immigration. His administration has executed deportation flights and intensified efforts to remove individuals who have entered the country unlawfully.
Meanwhile, the Indian government reiterated its position against illegal immigration, with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) emphasizing that it would facilitate the return of Indian nationals overstaying in the US or residing without proper documentation. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reaffirmed that India would take action to return such individuals to India, provided their nationality could be verified.
This escalation in deportations aligns with Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign promise to declare a national emergency and address the growing concerns over illegal immigration, particularly at the US-Mexico border.
While Trump has supported skilled immigrants, particularly through the H-1B visa program, the rise in deportations has raised concerns among immigrant communities, especially regarding undocumented individuals.
