Global Passport Costs: UAE Has the Cheapest, Mexico the Most Expensive
Passports are essential for international travel, but the costs associated with obtaining them can vary widely depending on the country of issue. A recent report reveals that passport fees in 2024 range from as low as ₹1,500 to as high as ₹19,000.

The United Arab Emirates offers the world’s most affordable passport, priced at just ₹1,400. India ranks second, with a 10-year passport costing ₹1,524.95.
Other countries with budget-friendly passports include Hungary, Spain, Kenya, and South Africa.
Indian Passport: Excellent Value at a Low Cost
The Indian passport stands out for its remarkable value. Ranked 82nd in the 2024 Henley Passport Index, it grants visa-free access to 58 countries. Its low “cost per year” makes it one of the most economical choices available. In comparison, Spain’s passport offers superb global mobility, allowing visa-free travel to 194 destinations for citizens aged 30 and older.
Most Expensive Passports
Mexico holds the title for the most expensive passport, with its 10-year version costing ₹19,481.75. The six-year and three-year options are also among the most expensive globally.
Australia’s 10-year passport comes in at ₹19,041, while the United States’ 10-year passport costs ₹13,868.
