Thailand Floods: Devastation and Viral Python Video Spark Fears
Torrential rains in Thailand have caused widespread destruction, with numerous videos of the damage circulating on social media. Among them, a haunting clip of a massive python drifting on a flooded road has captured significant attention, leaving viewers unsettled.
“Seen drifting in floodwaters in Southern Thailand, this giant snake, likely a Reticulated Python, is bobbing around in the deluge,” the post on X, featuring the now-viral video, reads.
The footage shows the bloated python floating motionless in the water. Reports suggest the snake had earlier swallowed a dog, contributing to its swollen appearance.
Viral Video Stirs Fear
The video, which has garnered more than 11.5 million views on X, has sparked a mix of reactions, particularly fear of snakes.
One user admitted, “Snakes are not my thing,” while another added, “Definitely not mine… at all!” A third observed, “It looks dead and bloated. That’s why it isn’t moving.”
Other viewers expressed concern for the snake’s well-being, with one commenting, “It’s a reticulated python on its back, which likely means it’s dead or in severe distress. Poor creature.” Another worried, “I hope it didn’t swallow a human.”
Understanding the Reticulated Python
The snake in the video is believed to be a reticulated python, one of the largest snake species globally. These pythons can exceed 20 feet in length and are known for their distinctive diamond-shaped patterns. With sharp, curved teeth, they are powerful predators.
