PM Modi Holds Bilateral Meeting with Italy’s Giorgia Meloni at G20 Summit in Brazil

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Monday (local time) during the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The two leaders engaged in discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation between their countries.

During the meeting, PM Modi emphasized the need to enhance collaboration in areas such as defence, security, trade, and technology. “The India-Italy friendship has the potential to contribute significantly to a better world,” PM Modi stated, underlining the opportunities for deeper partnerships.

Sharing insights from the meeting on social media, PM Modi said, “It was a pleasure meeting Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the Rio de Janeiro G20 Summit. Our discussions focused on deepening ties in defence, security, trade, and technology. We also explored avenues to strengthen cooperation in culture, education, and other sectors.”

Earlier in the summit, PM Modi also held talks with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store. On the sidelines, he engaged with leaders from Indonesia, Portugal, and Spain, working to enhance relations in commerce, defence, and other critical areas.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, noted on social media that PM Modi assured Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto of efforts to expand the India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, celebrating 75 years of robust bilateral relations.
