PM Modi Holds Bilateral Talks with Italy’s Giorgia Meloni at G20 Summit in Brazil
Rio de Janeiro: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Monday (local time) at the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The two leaders discussed a range of issues aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, PM Modi emphasized strengthening ties in areas such as defence, security, trade, and technology. “India-Italy friendship can greatly contribute to a better planet,” PM Modi stated, highlighting the potential for deeper collaboration.
Sharing details of the meeting on social media, PM Modi said, “Glad to have met Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on the sidelines of the Rio de Janeiro G20 Summit. Our talks centred around deepening ties in defence, security, trade, and technology. We also discussed ways to boost cooperation in culture, education, and other areas.”
Earlier in the summit, PM Modi also held bilateral talks with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store. On the sidelines of the summit, he met with leaders from Indonesia, Portugal, and Spain, focusing on strengthening relations in commerce, defence, and other key sectors.
The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, shared on social media that PM Modi assured Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto of expanding the India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, celebrating 75 years of strong ties between the two nations.
