PM Modi Hails Ramayan Performance in Brazil

Rio de Janeiro:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended an impressive presentation of the Ramayan in Brazil on Tuesday and praised the performance.

On the social media platform X, PM Modi shared his thoughts, saying, “I met Jonas Masetti and his team. I had mentioned him in one of the #MannKiBaat programs for his profound passion for Vedanta and the Gita.”

The Prime Minister commended the effort, noting, “His team presented glimpses of the Ramayan in Sanskrit. It’s remarkable to see how Indian culture is making an impact globally.”

The Ramayan was performed by students of Vishwa Vidya Gurukulam, a Brazilian institution focused on promoting Vedanta and Sanskrit teachings.

Jonas Masetti, also known as Acharya Vishwanath and the founder of Vishwa Vidya Gurukulam, welcomed PM Modi by reciting a Sanskrit mantra.

In an interview with ANI, Masetti discussed the spiritual significance of the Ramayan, stating, “The Ramayan is a homage to Dharm.” Ram embodies Dharm, and engaging with Ram Katha through performances like this helps purify ourselves and embrace a more meaningful life. It took us six years to prepare for this, and we were initially nervous and emotional because it was such a significant endeavor for us.”

He further explained that PM Modi was visibly moved by the performance and encouraged the Indian youth to reconnect with their cultural heritage.

“I’m glad he could witness this. I feel concerned when I hear that Indian youth are distancing themselves from the Vedic traditions. I want to tell them that while Western influences may seem appealing, they can often feel shallow. Embrace the profound richness of your own culture,” Masetti emphasized.

PM Modi, currently on a three-nation tour, participated in the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Brazil, where he engaged in various discussions and cultural events. The Prime Minister highlighted the diverse cultural performances during his visit, underscoring the global reach and depth of Indian traditions.
