Washington:
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit the White House in February, according to US President Donald Trump.
While addressing reporters aboard Air Force One on Monday, President Trump revealed details of his conversation with PM Modi during his return from Florida to Joint Base Andrews.
“I had an extensive conversation with him this morning. He’s likely visiting the White House next month, probably in February. Our relationship with India is very strong,” Trump remarked.
When pressed for specifics about their phone discussion, the president responded, “We covered a wide range of topics.”
The announcement underscores the camaraderie between the two leaders, who share a history of collaboration. During Trump’s first presidential term, he visited India on a high-profile trip to solidify ties between the two nations. Both leaders also addressed massive gatherings, including the “Howdy Modi” rally in Houston in 2019 and another event in Ahmedabad in 2020.
PM Modi was among the first international leaders to congratulate Trump on his re-election victory in November 2024, further showcasing the close diplomatic relationship between India and the US.
