A rocket attack in the northern Israeli city of Tira left several people injured, according to Israel’s emergency medical services on Saturday.
Magden David Adom (MDA) reported that seven individuals were hospitalized with injuries ranging from moderate to mild, including a man in his twenties who sustained shrapnel wounds.
Images and videos from the MDA showed significant damage to a building, with emergency responders securing the area. A video from the Israeli military radio station Galatz captured a large explosion at the site.
The Israeli army confirmed that three rockets were fired from Lebanon towards central Israel, with several intercepted.
Tira, located about 25 kilometers (15 miles) northeast of Tel Aviv and near the occupied West Bank, is a predominantly Arab town.
The ongoing conflict in Gaza, which started on October 7, 2023, has escalated into Lebanon, where Israel has been carrying out extensive airstrikes against Hezbollah, a group aligned with Hamas.
Israeli officials stated that at least 63 people have died on the Israeli side since the conflict with Hezbollah intensified following Hamas’s attack on Israel.
Previously, rocket fire from Lebanon killed seven people in Metula, northern Israel, including four Thai agricultural workers.
The Hamas attack in October resulted in 1,206 deaths in Israel, mostly civilians, according to an AFP tally of official figures. In response, Israeli actions have led to 43,163 Palestinian deaths in Gaza, the majority of whom are civilians, based on figures from the Hamas-controlled health ministry, which are considered reliable by the United Nations.
