Hezbollah Launches Barrage of Rockets at Israel Following Netanyahu’s Admission of Beirut Attack

Lebanese militant group Hezbollah launched over 165 rockets into northern Israel on Monday, a direct retaliation to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s acknowledgment of Israel’s involvement in a September attack on Hezbollah in Beirut, which he confirmed he had authorized.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) shared footage on X (formerly Twitter), showcasing the aftermath of one of the rocket strikes, with a message stating, “Northern Israel is under attack. We will continue to defend our civilians against Hezbollah’s aggression.” The rocket attacks resulted in seven injuries, including a one-year-old girl who was struck by shrapnel in Bi’ina, a town near the Israeli-Lebanese border. Among the wounded were a 27-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man, both of whom were transported to Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya for medical care.

The IDF reported that approximately 50 rockets were aimed at the Galilee Medical Center itself, while others hit the nearby Karmiel area and surrounding towns. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for targeting an Israeli Paratroopers Brigade training base in Karmiel.

This latest rocket barrage is considered one of the largest attacks in the ongoing conflict, with a second wave of 90 rockets fired at the port city of Haifa in two separate barrages. The first barrage, which consisted of 80 rockets, was largely intercepted by Israel’s air defense systems, though several towns in the region were still impacted. The second barrage of 10 rockets saw some intercepted or landing in open areas, causing minimal damage.

In retaliation, an IDF drone targeted and destroyed a Hezbollah rocket launcher used in the Haifa attacks. The exchange of fire between Hezbollah and Israel continues to intensify, with both sides engaged in heightened military activity along their border.
