Modi and Kharge Clash Over Election Promises:

A recent exchange between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge over election promises has sparked a heated political confrontation. In response to Modi’s criticism, Congress accused the BJP of deceit, asserting that the “B” in BJP stands for “betrayal” and the “J” for “jumla” (empty promises).

Kharge sharply countered Modi’s statements, which targeted Congress-run states for failing to meet their promises, labeling the BJP government as one characterized by “lies, deceit, fraud, loot, and publicity.” On social media platform X, Kharge accused Modi of orchestrating a PR stunt with his 100-day plan and described his government as a “disaster,” further claiming that BJP’s guarantees are nothing more than broken promises.

Modi had previously attacked Congress, alleging that state governments in Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana had failed to deliver on their promises, leaving these states in poor financial condition. He argued that Congress’s repeated promises to the people were often left unfulfilled, misleading the public and leaving residents suffering as a result.

In defense, Congress leaders like Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhu stood by their governance. Siddaramaiah stated that Congress had delivered on its commitments, dedicating ₹52,000 crore to welfare programs and addressing corruption. Sukhu similarly emphasized that his government had fulfilled its promises, boosting the state’s economy by 20%.

Kharge also questioned the BJP’s unfulfilled pledges, such as the promise of “two crore jobs per year” and “Acche Din,” while accusing the government of increasing the national debt. Congress leaders continued to counter Modi’s criticism, reaffirming their party’s dedication to fulfilling its promises.
