PM Modi Warns Against ‘Digital Arrest’ Scams in ‘Mann Ki Baat’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address on October 27, 2024, raised awareness about the rising menace of “digital arrest” scams affecting people across various sections of society. He urged citizens to adopt a cautious approach by following the mantra of “stop, think, and take action” to safeguard themselves from such fraudulent activities.
PM Modi explained that scammers often pose as officials from investigative agencies, preying on people’s fears by collecting sensitive personal information. He emphasized that genuine investigative agencies would never contact individuals through phone calls or video calls to discuss such matters. Modi advised citizens to report suspicious calls by dialing the helpline number 1930, using the national cyber helpline portal, or contacting the police. He also encouraged people to record conversations and take screenshots to aid in reporting these incidents.
Tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Birsa Munda
In the same broadcast, PM Modi paid homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and freedom fighter Birsa Munda, announcing a nationwide celebration to mark their 150th birth anniversaries. Inviting citizens to actively participate in the campaign, Modi highlighted the shared vision of Patel and Munda for a united and resilient India, despite the distinct challenges they faced during their lifetimes.
