In New Delhi, Union Minister JP Nadda unveiled the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) manifesto for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, emphasizing the party’s focus on women-centric welfare initiatives. The BJP’s manifesto, titled ‘Sankalp Patra,’ includes a series of promises aimed at supporting women, particularly pregnant women and families.

As part of the welfare measures, the party has promised a one-time financial grant of Rs 21,000 to pregnant women, along with six nutritional kits. Additionally, the manifesto promises Rs 5,000 for the first child and Rs 6,000 for the second child. Nadda also introduced the Mahila Smriddhi Yojana, which will offer women financial assistance of Rs 2,500 per month.

In his speech, Nadda recalled the AAP’s earlier promise to provide Rs 1,000 to women in 2021, accusing the party of failing to deliver on its commitment in both Delhi and Punjab.

Other notable pledges included a Rs 500 subsidy on LPG cylinders, with two free cylinders to be distributed during Diwali and Holi. The BJP also proposed implementing the Ayushman Bharat health scheme in Delhi’s first cabinet meeting if the party comes to power, addressing the AAP’s opposition to the central scheme.

The manifesto also promises enhanced healthcare coverage for senior citizens, offering an additional Rs 5 lakh health cover, bringing the total health cover for the elderly to Rs 10 lakh. A new pension scheme will provide Rs 2,000-2,500 for individuals between the ages of 60-70 and Rs 3,000 for those above 70. Additionally, support for Divyangs and widows will be increased to Rs 3,000.

The BJP also committed to setting up Atal Canteens in every slum, where a full meal will be available for just Rs 5.

Nadda, also the Union health minister, sharply criticized the AAP’s Mohalla Clinics, calling them “dens of corruption” and accusing the party of being involved in a Rs 300 crore scam. He promised that once the BJP takes charge, all corruption allegations would be investigated, and those responsible would face legal consequences.
