BJP-Congress Clash Escalates: Rahul Gandhi Tied to George Soros, Congress Demands Apology

A political storm erupted on Thursday as BJP lawmakers accused Rahul Gandhi of having ties with billionaire George Soros, leading to intense protests and a heated exchange in Parliament. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey sparked the controversy by alleging that Gandhi was connected to forces trying to “derail” India’s progress. Sambit Patra further escalated the matter by labeling Gandhi as part of a “triangle” involving Soros and the OCCRP (Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project), calling him a “traitor.”

The Congress party quickly retaliated, demanding an apology from Dubey for what they deemed “slanderous” and baseless remarks. Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor accused Dubey of violating parliamentary norms and called on Speaker Om Birla to expunge the controversial comments from the official record.

Congress Protests Inside and Outside Parliament

In the House, Congress MPs protested vigorously, demanding accountability for the accusations against Gandhi. Outside the House, Congress leaders staged a demonstration wearing black jackets with slogans such as “Modi Adani Ek Hai,” renewing their allegations of a close-knit relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Adani Group. BJP leaders, in turn, accused the Congress of deliberately disrupting parliamentary proceedings and politicizing the issue at hand.

BJP-Rajya Sabha Exchanges

The confrontation continued in the Rajya Sabha, where BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi linked Soros to alleged foreign entities attempting to destabilize India’s economic progress, citing reports from the French publication Mediapart. In response, opposition MPs accused the BJP of sidestepping more pressing issues, particularly the ongoing allegations surrounding the Adani Group, which have been a focal point of controversy for the government.

Escalating Tensions

As the debate intensified, the Speaker adjourned the proceedings multiple times in an attempt to restore order. The clash between the BJP and Congress deepened, highlighting the growing political rift and the continued escalation of accusations between the two parties. While the Congress party demands an apology and a retraction of the accusations against Gandhi, the BJP maintains its stance, fueling the ongoing standoff between the two political giants. The incident underscores the heightened political volatility as both parties continue to engage in high-stakes battles over key issues like corruption, accountability, and their influence in Indian politics.
