In a tragic incident in Chandragiri, two women devotees lost their lives while five others were injured early Monday morning when they were struck by an ambulance en route to Tirumala.
The accident occurred around 4 am between Rangampeta and Mangapuram, when a 108 ambulance coming from Piler collided with the group of seven devotees from behind. Two women died at the scene, while five others sustained injuries.
Local authorities have filed a case under section 106 clause 1 of BNS. Tirupati Superintendent of Police L Subba Rayudu suggested that foggy conditions might have contributed to the accident, emphasizing the reduced visibility during winter nights. He urged devotees who walk to the temple to stay on the side of the road and remain cautious to prevent such incidents.
