Two BSF personnel were injured in an IED blast triggered by Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district on Friday morning, according to police officials.
The incident occurred when a BSF road-opening party from a camp near Garpa village was conducting patrol operations. Maoists detonated the explosive device as the team moved between the camp and the village, resulting in injuries to two jawans. They were immediately transported to a hospital for treatment, the police added.
The attack comes amid a series of recent Maoist-triggered IED explosions in the region. On Thursday, two CoBRA commandos, part of the CRPF’s elite jungle warfare unit, were injured in a pressure IED blast in Bijapur district.
Earlier in January, a 10-year-old girl was injured in Sukma, and two policemen were wounded in Bijapur in similar IED explosions. Additionally, a villager was killed and three others injured in two separate incidents involving pressure IEDs in the Orchha area of Narayanpur district.
The most severe attack this month occurred on January 6, when eight police personnel and their civilian driver were killed in Bijapur district after Maoists targeted their vehicle with an IED.
Authorities are continuing their efforts to secure the affected areas and prevent further attacks by Maoist groups.
