A heart-wrenching scene unfolded during a college function in Dharashiv, Maharashtra, when a 20-year-old student, Varsha Kharat, suddenly collapsed while delivering a speech. She later died of a heart attack, and the incident, captured on video, has since gone viral on social media.

The tragic event took place at Maharshi Guruvarya RG Shinde Mahavidyalaya in Paranda taluka. While the video shows Varsha engaging warmly with the audience in Marathi, her voice falters midway through the speech before she falls to the ground. Spectators rushed to her aid, but the young student could not be saved. The video’s authenticity, however, remains unverified by HT.com.

This unfortunate death echoes a string of recent similar incidents across the country where sudden heart attacks claimed lives in unexpected moments.

In Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, a joyous 25th wedding anniversary celebration ended in grief when 50-year-old businessman Wasim Sarwar collapsed while dancing with his wife. He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

Another incident in Ashoknagar, Madhya Pradesh, involved a veterinary doctor who suffered a heart attack while driving. He lost consciousness behind the wheel and was later found by locals near a park.

In October 2024, during Navratri festivities in Pune, Garba trainer Ashok Mali—fondly called the ‘Garba King’—collapsed on stage mid-performance in Chakan. Performing energetically with his son, Mali suddenly showed signs of dizziness before falling to his knees. The 50-year-old died of a heart attack, leaving the community in shock.

These cases underline a growing concern over sudden cardiac arrests affecting individuals during routine or joyous occasions, often without warning.
