Train Derailment Near Howrah: Secunderabad-Shalimar Superfast Express Coaches Derailed, No Casualties Reported
Kolkata: In an early morning incident near Howrah, three coaches of the Secunderabad-Shalimar Superfast Express derailed at Nalpur, approximately 40 kilometers from Kolkata. Thankfully, no fatalities or significant injuries have been reported.
The derailment occurred at 5:31 am while the train was transitioning from the middle to the outer tracks near Nalpur station in the Kharagpur Division. According to a statement by the South Eastern Railway, “A parcel van and two coaches of the 22850 Secunderabad-Shalimar Weekly Express derailed at Nalpur. Fortunately, there have been no major injuries or casualties.”
Relief efforts were swift, with medical teams and relief trains dispatched from Santragachhi and Kharagpur to assist passengers and address the situation. Buses were also arranged to ensure stranded travelers could reach their destinations with minimal inconvenience.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the derailment, and efforts are underway to restore train services on the affected tracks. The incident, though unsettling, has been managed efficiently, ensuring passenger safety and timely assistance.
