Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met Savita Roy, the principal of her alma mater, Daulat Ram College, on Saturday. Roy recalled Gupta’s college days with admiration, stating, “She has always kept her promises. My blessings are with her, and we all support her.”

Expressing gratitude, Gupta said, “I feel immense pride. To the students of Delhi University, especially Daulat Ram College—I want to say that it’s not just Rekha Gupta who has become CM, but all of you have.”

A professor who taught Gupta between 1992 and 1995 at Daulat Ram College also shared her memories, describing her as a determined and grounded leader. “Rekha was always strong-minded and helped everyone. I could already see her leadership qualities back then. She was destined for this,” said Indu Jain.

Gupta’s political journey began in college when she was elected general secretary of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) in 1995, followed by her tenure as DUSU President in 1996-97. Later, as a municipal councillor from North Pitampura in 2007, she focused on improving public amenities.

In the 2025 Delhi Assembly election, Gupta won from Shalimar Bagh and was chosen as the BJP’s chief ministerial candidate, emphasizing the party’s focus on women leadership. She was sworn in as Delhi’s CM on February 20 at Ramlila Maidan.
