Schools in Puri and Nearby Areas Closed for Navy Day Celebrations
Puri/Bhubaneswar: In light of the upcoming Navy Day celebrations, schools in the Puri municipality and surrounding regions will remain closed on Wednesday, as announced by District Education Officer Deepak Padhi. This decision is aimed at facilitating student participation in the event and managing the anticipated traffic disruptions. The prestigious occasion will be attended by President Droupadi Murmu.
“Preparations for the event are in the final stages,” stated Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, following a review meeting with district officials to ensure the smooth execution of the celebration.
President Murmu arrived in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday, where she was warmly received by Governor Raghubar Das, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, and other prominent dignitaries.
As per the official itinerary, the President will spend the night at Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar before traveling to Puri on Wednesday morning. During her visit, she will offer prayers at the iconic Jagannath Temple and later participate in the Navy Day celebrations.
In a separate event on Tuesday, President Murmu unveiled a statue of Pandit Raghunath Murmu, the renowned Santhali writer and educator credited with developing the Ol Chiki script, at Niladri Vihar. She also visited the ‘Adim Owar Jarpa Jaher,’ a sacred worship site for the Santhal community, where she offered prayers as part of her visit to the state capital.
