In a tragic incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat, six people lost their lives and over 50 were injured when a bamboo platform collapsed during a religious event. The platform had been set up for the annual ‘Laddoo Mahotsav’ organized by the Jain community in Baraut. Hundreds of devotees had gathered at a local temple to offer laddoos when the structure gave way under the weight of the crowd.

According to local authorities, police and ambulances responded swiftly, transporting the injured to nearby hospitals. While some victims received first aid and were discharged, others with more severe injuries remain in treatment. District Magistrate Asmita Lal confirmed that the event, held for the past 30 years, faced this unfortunate tragedy.

Rakesh Jain, a devotee at the scene, explained that the platform is a traditional part of the festival marking the nirvana of Jain deity Adinatha. As priests began the ritual, the structure collapsed, sending dozens tumbling.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep sorrow over the incident, urging officials to expedite relief efforts and extend prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured.
