Hyderabad Residents Evacuated as Five-Story Building Tilts Dangerously

Panic spread through Hyderabad’s Siddiq Nagar late at night when a five-story building tilted precariously, prompting an urgent evacuation. The structure, located near Gachibowli in Madhapur, developed alarming cracks, raising fears of an imminent collapse.

The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency acted swiftly, evacuating not only the residents of the affected building but also those in surrounding structures to ensure their safety.

Displaced families spent the night outdoors, braving chilly weather as they anxiously awaited updates on the situation.

Preliminary investigations suggest the tilt was caused by a weak foundation and substandard construction quality, worsened by excavation work for a new building nearby.

Laxman, a local resident, recounted concerns raised during the construction of the neighboring structure. He stated that unusually deep digging in a narrow plot of just 50 square yards had alarmed residents, but builders dismissed their objections, assuring them there would be no impact on the stability of existing buildings.

Authorities have launched an investigation to examine the construction permits and identify the root cause of the structural failure. This incident has raised broader concerns about safety standards and regulatory oversight in urban construction projects.
