Motorcyclist Fatally Hit and Dragged by SUV in UP’s Sambhal
Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh: A tragic road accident claimed the life of a motorcyclist after he was struck by an SUV and dragged for a significant distance, police reported on Monday. The incident, captured on video and shared widely on social media, has led to the registration of an FIR against the SUV driver.
The video shows the SUV dragging the motorcycle underneath, creating sparks along the road. A BJP sticker reading “gram pradhan” was visible on the rear windshield of the speeding vehicle, raising concerns among locals.
The victim, identified as Sukhveer (50), was a resident of Shahjad Kheda village. According to a complaint filed by a relative, Sukhveer was returning home from Hayatnagar on Sunday evening when a Bolero SUV hit him on Moradabad Road. The driver allegedly dragged him under the vehicle for some distance before the SUV came to a stop.
Sukhveer was rushed to a hospital in Sambhal and later referred to Moradabad for advanced treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries on Monday, as stated in the complaint.
Anuj Kumar Tomar, Station House Officer (SHO) of Sambhal, confirmed that a case of culpable homicide has been filed against the SUV driver. The vehicle has been seized, and an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
The distressing incident has sparked outrage, with many calling for stricter action against reckless driving and enforcement of road safety measures in the region.
