PM Modi Receives Guyana’s Highest Honor, Dedicates It to 1.4 Billion Indians
Guyana’s President, Dr. Irfaan Ali, conferred the country’s highest civilian honor, the Order of Excellence, on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an event on Thursday. Accepting the award, PM Modi expressed gratitude, saying, “This honor is not just for me but for 1.4 billion Indians. It is a testament to our strong relations and shared aspirations.”
In his speech, PM Modi highlighted the deep-rooted historical and cultural ties between India and Guyana. He stated, “This recognition symbolizes our mutual trust and commitment to strengthening our partnership. Our collaboration, built on shared heritage, will continue to inspire progress across various fields.”
The India-Guyana relationship is bolstered by robust bilateral frameworks, such as a joint ministerial commission, foreign ministry consultations, cultural exchanges, and a joint business council. Organizations like the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) and the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) have been instrumental in enhancing trade and investment ties between the two nations.
President Dr. Irfaan Ali praised India’s role in championing technology, innovation, and poverty alleviation. He remarked, “Technology and digitization should bridge gaps between nations, not widen them. India, under PM Modi, is a key member of the CARICOM family, offering innovative solutions and fostering unity.”
PM Modi’s recognition by Guyana, alongside recent honors from other nations like Barbados, underscores his growing global stature. These accolades reflect India’s rising influence in global diplomacy and its strengthened ties with the Caribbean.
This visit further cements India’s strategic importance on the world stage, highlighting the enduring partnership between India and Guyana.
