PM Modi Calls for Unity Ahead of Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his monthly radio address Mann Ki Baat on Sunday, urged the nation to embrace the upcoming Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj as a platform to foster unity and eliminate hatred from society.
Highlighting the significance of the event, PM Modi said, “If I have to summarize it, I would say, ‘Maha Kumbh ka sandesh, ek ho poora desh’ (the message of Maha Kumbh is for the entire nation to unite).” He encouraged devotees to share their experiences and selfies using the hashtag #EktaKaMahakumbh. Reinforcing his message of harmony, he added, “Ganga ki aviral dhara, na bante samaj hamara” (like the uninterrupted flow of the Ganga, let our society remain undivided).
The Prime Minister’s emphasis on unity echoes the ‘ek hain to safe hain’ (we are safe if we are united) theme he promoted during the Maharashtra elections.
The Maha Kumbh, set to take place from January 13 to February 26, 2025, in Prayagraj, is a spiritual event of immense cultural significance, occurring once every 144 years. PM Modi described it as a grand celebration of unity in diversity, bringing together crores of pilgrims, lakhs of saints, thousands of traditions, hundreds of sects, and many ‘akharas’ (Hindu monastic orders).
This edition of the Maha Kumbh will also see the introduction of a ‘digital Maha Kumbh.’ Modi highlighted several technological advancements aimed at enhancing the experience for visitors. Digital navigation aids will guide pilgrims to ghats, temples, and akharas, while an AI chatbot will provide information in 11 Indian languages. Additionally, AI-powered cameras will assist in locating lost individuals through a digital lost-and-found centre.
The Prime Minister invited everyone to actively participate, not just in the ritualistic holy dip at the Triveni Sangam but in the deeper, symbolic journey of national unity that the event represents.
In his address, PM Modi also noted the upcoming 75th anniversary of the Constitution on January 26, 2025, calling it a moment of great pride. He emphasized the Constitution’s role as a guiding force for the nation, urging citizens to uphold its values and principles.
