New Delhi: The Border Security Force (BSF) on Wednesday neutralized an intruder attempting to cross the International Border (IB) in the Pathankot sector. The individual was shot after ignoring multiple warnings from security personnel.

Intrusion Attempt Thwarted

The incident took place at BOP Tashpatan, where BSF troops spotted suspicious movement before dawn. Despite being challenged, the intruder continued advancing, prompting security forces to respond with force.

“Alert BSF troops detected movement near the IB and observed an individual attempting to infiltrate. Despite repeated warnings, the suspect refused to stop, leading to the use of lethal force,” the BSF stated.

Identity & Motive Under Investigation

Officials are currently working to determine who the intruder was and what their intentions might have been. The BSF has confirmed that a strong protest will be lodged with Pakistani Rangers regarding the infiltration attempt.

Increasing Hostilities at LoC

The incident comes just a day after the Indian Army engaged in retaliatory fire against Pakistani troops across the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir.

Additionally:

  • February 8: Terrorists opened fire on an Indian Army patrol in Rajouri’s Keri sector, prompting a strong response.
  • February 4-5: A landmine blast in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch led to casualties among infiltrators.

Security Forces on High Alert

Jammu & Kashmir has witnessed a surge in terrorist activity, with intensified counteroffensives last year. Between May and December, over 30 terrorists were neutralized, while security forces suffered 25 casualties19 in Jammu and six in Kashmir.

With border tensions escalating, security forces remain on high alert to prevent further infiltration attempts.
