Sanoj Mishra, a film director, was arrested by the Delhi Police on Sunday after being accused of rape, causing a miscarriage, and assault by a 28-year-old woman.
Mishra, known for offering a movie to the viral Mahakumbh girl ‘Monalisa,’ was named in a complaint filed by the woman on March 6 at the Nabi Karim police station in Central Delhi. The charges include rape, assault, forced abortion, and intimidation.
The woman claimed she had been in a live-in relationship with Mishra for four years while living in Mumbai. She accused him of coercing her into having three abortions during their relationship. According to the complaint, on February 18, Mishra invited her to a hotel in Nabi Karim, where they had physical relations.
The woman alleged that Mishra had promised to marry her but later backed out. Following the investigation, police retrieved medical documents related to the abortions from Muzaffarnagar. The Delhi High Court has also rejected Mishra’s bail plea.
Delhi Police Deputy Commissioner Harsha Vardhan confirmed that Mishra was arrested on Sunday after intelligence gathering and technical surveillance. Mishra, who is married and resides with his family in Mumbai, faces serious charges in the case.
