Delhi’s air quality remains in the ‘very poor’ category for the seventh straight day, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching 384 at 7 am on Tuesday. Anand Vihar recorded the highest pollution levels with an AQI of 457, followed by Jahangirpuri at 440, both categorized as ‘severe.’ The weather department attributes the ongoing pollution to calm winds and misty conditions across the city.

In response to rising pollution, Delhi’s Environment Minister Gopal Rai reported that 88% of the pollution-related complaints submitted through the Green Delhi App have been resolved. Out of 81,418 complaints, over 71,500 have been addressed. The minister also announced plans to hold a departmental review meeting later in the day.

In other developments, the Delhi government has declared November 7 a public holiday for Chhath Puja for residents of the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi. As pollution levels continue to worsen, there is growing concern among parents and students about the possibility of the Delhi government, led by Atishi, declaring ‘pollution holidays’ for schools and colleges. Several schools have already canceled morning assemblies due to the deteriorating air quality.
