New Delhi: A police team led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) visited the residence of Delhi High Court Judge Yashwant Varma on Wednesday as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged discovery of cash, official sources confirmed.
According to police sources, the team conducted an inspection of the area where a fire reportedly broke out and is likely to question staff members at the judge’s residence.
The Chief Justice of India had earlier set up a three-member panel to conduct an in-house inquiry into the incident. The panel decided to make public the inquiry report submitted by Delhi High Court Chief Justice D K Upadhyay, which included photographs and videos related to the alleged cash discovery.
Justice Varma has firmly denied the allegations, stating that neither he nor any of his family members had ever stored cash in the residence’s storeroom.
