Army Engages in Gunfight with Terrorists in Kathua, J&K; Search Operation Underway

In a tense encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, Army troops clashed with terrorists in the early hours of January 25, 2025. The exchange of fire took place in the higher reaches of the region, with a large-scale search operation currently in progress to apprehend the militants who managed to flee following the initial skirmish.

According to officials, the alert sentry post of a temporary Army camp in the Batod panchayat area detected suspicious movement around 1:20 am and immediately opened fire. In response, the terrorists fired back, resulting in an intermittent exchange of gunfire that lasted for nearly 30 minutes.

Fortunately, there were no casualties reported on either side. Authorities believe the terrorists, who are suspected to be three in number, fled into a nearby forest after the firefight. The Army has since launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area, with more details expected as the situation develops.
