In a series of coordinated operations, the Indian Army, along with Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, and other security forces, seized 35 weapons, ammunition, and warlike stores from various regions across Manipur. The successful operations took place across the districts of Thoubal, Tengnoupal, Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Imphal West, Noney, Jiribam, and Kakching.
Acting on specific intelligence, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, supported by Manipur Police, initiated a joint operation in Lungkhongjang Ridge, located north of Bungte Chiru village in Bishnupur district. They recovered a modified sniper rifle, five 9mm pistols, two single-barrel rifles, grenades, ammunition, and other warlike materials.
In another operation near the Khuga River and Dampi Ridge, which borders Bishnupur and Churachandpur, the joint forces seized a 9mm Sub Machine Gun, a .303 rifle, one pistol, one country-made mortar, a grenade launcher, grenades, and additional warlike stores.
On January 20, Assam Rifles launched an ambush along the Indo-Myanmar border near Yangoupokpi in Tengnoupal district, where they apprehended a suspect linked to the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) group. They also recovered a 9mm country-made pistol, a .303 rifle, an improvised projectile launcher, grenades, and more ammunition in Noney district after an intelligence-based operation.
On January 23, a joint operation by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police in Thoubal district led to the recovery of a country-made pistol, a single-bore rifle, ten hand grenades, and ammunition. In the same district, another operation apprehended two KCP(PWG) militants with two 9mm pistols, ammunition, and warlike materials.
Operations in Jiribam district on January 23 resulted in the recovery of a carbine, a single-barrel gun, grenades, and ammunition, while in Chandel district, a successful operation led to the seizure of a 9mm pistol, a locally made mortar, IEDs, grenades, and ammunition.
On January 24, operations in Imphal West led to the recovery of a self-loading rifle, a carbine machine gun, a .32 caliber pistol, two 51mm mortars, grenades, and ammunition. Additionally, a joint operation in Kakching district on January 25 led to the recovery of a modified .303 sniper rifle, an airgun, grenades, and ammunition.
Throughout these operations, the cooperation between the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and law enforcement agencies has proven instrumental in ensuring the region’s security and disrupting insurgent activities. The apprehended individuals and recovered materials have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further action.
