Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Prayagraj on Monday for a brief trip, marking his participation in the ongoing Maha Kumbh. He took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers, alongside Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, yoga guru Baba Ramdev, and various seers.
Shah engaged with religious leaders from the Akhara and took part in a Puja ceremony during his visit.
Before his dip, he shared a message on X, emphasizing that the Maha Kumbh symbolizes the uninterrupted flow of Sanatan culture and the philosophy of harmony embedded in Sanatan Dharma. “I eagerly look forward to taking a dip at the Sangam and receiving blessings from the saints during this grand festival of unity in Prayagraj,” he stated.
The ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela, which runs from January 13 to February 26, attracts millions of pilgrims. Since its start on Paush Purnima, over 110 million devotees have already bathed in the Triveni Sangam, a ritual believed to purify sins and lead to moksha (liberation). With more than 45 crore visitors expected before its conclusion, the event is a significant spiritual gathering.
