Veteran actor Delhi Ganesh, who passed away on November 9 due to age-related health issues, was laid to rest with full Air Force honours in Chennai on Monday morning. At the age of 80, Ganesh was honoured with the Indian Air Force ensign draped over his remains, a touching tribute to his dual legacy as a former officer in the Indian Air Force and a beloved figure in Tamil cinema.

The news of his passing was confirmed by his son, Maha Devan, who shared the heartbreaking message on social media: “We deeply regret to inform that our father Mr. Delhi Ganesh has passed away on 9th November around 11 pm.”

Following his death, tributes flooded in from across the nation, with fans, film industry colleagues, and political leaders expressing their sorrow. Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his condolences on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Deeply saddened by the passing of the distinguished film personality, Thiru Delhi Ganesh Ji. He will be fondly remembered for the depth he brought to every role and his remarkable ability to connect with audiences across generations. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”

Superstar Rajinikanth also paid a heartfelt tribute to his late friend, saying, “My friend Delhi Ganesh is a wonderful man and an exceptional actor. I am deeply saddened by his passing. My condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti.”

Delhi Ganesh’s significant contributions to Tamil cinema earned him numerous accolades throughout his career. His standout performance in *Pasi* (1979) earned him the Tamil Nadu State Film Award Special Prize, solidifying his place as a prominent figure in the industry. In 1994, he was bestowed with the prestigious Kalaimamani award by then Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, acknowledging his outstanding contribution to the arts.

In the later years of his career, Ganesh broadened his repertoire to include television and short films, consistently delivering memorable performances. His role as Alfred Pennyworth in the short film *What If Batman Was from Chennai* was particularly praised for its inventive charm and originality. His last performance as Health Secretary Krishna Mohan in Kamal Haasan’s *Indian 2* showcased his lasting versatility and exceptional acting talent.
