Kanguva Morning Show: Tamil Nadu Fans Disappointed by Lack of Early Screenings

The highly awaited film Kanguva, starring Suriya, Bobby Deol, and Disha Patani, is gearing up for its theatrical release on November 14. However, Tamil Nadu fans are expressing disappointment after the state government approved only five screenings per day, with the earliest starting at 9 am. Despite the film’s team requesting an early 5 am show, the request was not granted, leaving many fans in Tamil Nadu frustrated.

Studio Green, headed by KE Gananvel Raja, took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank the Tamil Nadu government for approving the 9 am screenings, stating, “#Kanguva is all set to storm cinemas near you with special 9 AM shows for its release. Thank you Tamil Nadu Government.” While the 9 am start is a slight improvement over the usual 11 am shows, it still doesn’t satisfy fans who were hoping for an earlier start, especially when other states like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Kerala will feature early shows as early as 4 am.

Despite the team’s efforts, many fans voiced their disappointment. One fan commented, “Better to ask for 7 AM shows instead of night,” while another posted, “At least 7 am show avuthu podalam govt.” The 9 am timing, though better than the standard 11 am slot, did little to appease fans, with many expressing frustration with comments such as “9 am?? Seriously bro.”

The Tradition of Morning Shows and the Ongoing Debate in Tamil Nadu

Morning screenings have long been a tradition in southern India, especially for major star-driven films. In some cases, films even debut at midnight. However, after a tragic incident during the 2023 Pongal releases, the Tamil Nadu government imposed a ban on early morning shows. This decision has left fans, exhibitors, and distributors unhappy, especially as films in neighboring states continue to enjoy early releases.

Kanguva has also created a buzz for its soundtrack by Devi Sri Prasad, cinematography by Vetri Palanisamy, and editing by the late Nishad Yusuf. Furthermore, the film is expected to have a sequel, with Suriya recently confirming at a press conference in Mumbai, “We have Kanguva 2. That’s where our priorities lie. The climax of Kanguva Part 1 will leave you with a lot of questions and surprises. Hence, Kanguva 2 is what we are looking forward to.”

While Kanguva is expected to perform well in its opening days, the lack of early screenings in Tamil Nadu continues to spark debate among fans, leaving them eagerly anticipating the next step in the saga.
