The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decisively refuted recent rumors claiming that it plans to reduce the syllabus for Class 10 and 12 by 15% for the 2025 Board Exams or implement open-book exams for certain subjects.

The rumors emerged following media reports citing Vikas Kumar Agrawal, the CBSE’s regional officer in Bhopal, who allegedly discussed a syllabus reduction during a conference titled “Bridging the Gap.” However, these reports lacked any official confirmation or supporting statements from the CBSE, leading to widespread confusion within academic circles.

In an official clarification, the CBSE stated: “Following reports about a 15% reduction in the syllabus for the 2025 board exams and the potential introduction of open-book exams for some subjects, the CBSE wishes to clarify that no such changes have been made to the examination structure or internal assessment protocols. Furthermore, no official notice has been issued on these matters. The CBSE categorically rejects these baseless claims and the false information circulating in the media.”
