Two low-intensity explosions rocked Chandigarh’s Sector 26 early on Tuesday, one near De’Orra Club and the other outside Seville, a popular venue owned by rapper Badshah.
The first explosion occurred around 3:15 am outside Seville, when two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle allegedly set off an explosive device near the club’s entrance. Just minutes later, another blast was reported outside De’Orra Club, which caused damage to the club’s glass windows.
Police were immediately alerted and quickly arrived at both locations. A forensic team was deployed to gather evidence and assess the damage.
Preliminary investigations suggest the explosions were likely an act of intimidation, with extortion being a possible motive. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the scene.
“We received information in the control room about a personal issue involving someone here. When the investigating officer arrived, he found broken glass. The case is still in the early stages, and the forensic team is collecting evidence. We received the complaint at 3:25 am,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dilbagh Singh Dhaliwal.
Singh confirmed that a case has been registered and that the forensic team is continuing its investigation. He also denied having any knowledge regarding Seville’s ownership by rapper Badshah.
This incident follows a similar blast in September in Sector 10, where two individuals threw an explosive, believed to be a hand grenade, at the front verandah of a house owned by 100-year-old retired principal, KK Malhotra. Malhotra and his wife narrowly escaped the blast, which caused significant damage to the property. Following that event, bomb detection teams and forensic experts were sent to the scene.
