Man Arrested for Double Murder Inside Salon in Najafgarh
New Delhi: A 22-year-old man, Harsh, was arrested at Indira Gandhi Airport on Thursday in connection with the killing of two men inside a salon in Najafgarh, southwest Delhi. Harsh, a resident of Alipur, had been on the run since February, fleeing to Baku, Azerbaijan, on a fake passport.
Harsh and his associate, Sanjeev Kumar alias Sanju Dahiya, are accused of shooting Sonu Tehlan and Ashish Tehlan, both in their early 30s, inside the salon on February 9. According to eyewitness accounts, the victims were shot multiple times in front of customers and salon staff.
Motive and Background
Police said Harsh was driven by suspicions that the victims were leaking information about him. Both Harsh and Dahiya have criminal records and were declared proclaimed offenders, with a ₹50,000 reward on their arrest. Harsh was also reportedly working under the direction of gangster Yogesh alias Tunda, who heads the Gogi gang.
Fake Passport and International Escape
Investigations revealed that Harsh used a fake passport under the name Pradeep Kumar to flee the country on June 9, first traveling to Sharjah and later to Azerbaijan. A Look Out Circular issued by the Crime Branch led to his detention upon his return to India, where he was reportedly attempting to obtain a new fake passport.
Incident Details
On February 8, Dahiya, who had just been released on bail, picked up Harsh from Rohini Jail. The next day, they visited the Najafgarh salon where the victims, along with complainant Neeraj Tehlan, were present. A heated argument ensued, stemming from old enmities and threats over information leaks.
Harsh and Dahiya left the salon briefly before returning to shoot Sonu and Ashish at point-blank range. They then fled, evading police by moving between various cities, including Shimla, Jammu, Surat, and Jodhpur.
Extortion Links
Harsh was allegedly involved in extortion under the orders of Yogesh and Monty Maan, another prominent Gogi gang member. Police revealed that Harsh had threatened several Delhi businessmen, demanding protection money in the names of Yogesh and Maan.
Legal Actions
Special Commissioner of Police Devesh Chandra Shrivastva confirmed Harsh’s role in the murders and his connection to organized extortion. Further investigations are underway to apprehend Dahiya and dismantle the gang’s network.
