The family of murdered Congress worker Himani Narwal is seeking the death penalty for the accused following an arrest in connection with her killing.
Savita, Himani’s mother, expressed her suspicion that the perpetrator was someone known to the family. “It must be either someone from the party, her college, or a relative. Only someone close could enter our home… I believe she resisted an attack, which led to this tragedy,” she told ANI.
She further stated, “She never tolerated anything wrong. I want the death penalty for the accused… No one from the government has reached out to us yet.”
Himani’s body was discovered inside a suitcase near the Sampla bus stand on the Rohtak-Delhi highway on March 1. Sampla police station SHO Bijendra Singh informed ANI that initial investigations suggest she was murdered before being dumped on the roadside.
Mother Blames Politics for Daughter’s Death
On Sunday, Savita alleged that political rivalry may have played a role in her daughter’s murder.
“The elections and the party took my daughter’s life. She made enemies because of this. The culprits could be party members or even her friends… On February 28, she was at home,” she claimed.
She further stated, “She had a close connection with Rahul Gandhi and the Hooda family, which made some people envious of her.”
Himani’s brother, Jatin, mentioned, “One person has been taken into custody, and we will proceed with her cremation today.”There are many rumors in the media… We want justice and demand the death penalty for the accused, but we still don’t know their identity. The police haven’t given us any information.”
Her uncle added, “We will not proceed with the cremation until the accused’s identity is revealed. We have had no contact with the police so far.”
