A horrific incident unfolded on Wednesday morning when a woman and her four daughters were found brutally murdered in a hotel room in the bustling Naka area of the city, police reported. The prime suspect in the murders is the woman’s 24-year-old son, Mohd Arshad, who has allegedly confessed to killing his mother and sisters with the help of his father. The tragic act is reportedly linked to ongoing land-related harassment by their neighbors in Agra.

Arshad, after committing the crime, surrendered to the police, and authorities have initiated a search for his father, Mohd Badar. The family, originally from Agra, had come to the state capital to celebrate the New Year when the gruesome killings occurred.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP-Central) Raveena Tyagi confirmed the tragic event, stating, “The accused, Arshad, allegedly killed his mother and four sisters with the help of his father.” The victims were identified as Asma (45), the mother, and her four daughters: Aliya (9), Alishia (19), Aksa (16), and Rahmeen (18).

Adding to the disturbing nature of the crime, Arshad filmed a video showing the bodies of his family members, in which he confessed to the murders and claimed that he was driven to violence due to harassment from neighbors in Agra. The video was reportedly shared on social media as well.

According to Tyagi, Arshad informed the hotel staff about the murders, prompting them to contact the authorities. The family, staying at Hotel Sharanjeet in Naka, had arrived in Lucknow on December 30. Staff members recalled seeing the women outside their room before the crime, indicating that the murders might have taken place after 1 am.

During questioning, Arshad allegedly admitted to killing his mother and sisters due to the continuous harassment from neighbors, expressing his fear of what might happen to them if anything happened to him. Tyagi added that no signs of resistance were found on the victims, leading police to suspect that they were sedated before being murdered.

Authorities believe that Arshad may have strangled at least one of his sisters with a scarf, with the help of his father, and that the others were attacked with sharp objects. After committing the crime, Arshad reportedly dropped his father off at a railway station before heading to a police station to report the murders. Police recovered the murder weapons, including a blade and a scarf, and are continuing to interrogate the suspect.

Among the most chilling pieces of evidence is a second video found on Arshad’s phone, allegedly showing his father strangling one of the daughters. The police investigation into this horrific case is ongoing, as they piece together the details behind this family tragedy.
