The chilling murder case of a 35-year-old Hyderabad woman has hit a roadblock as police have yet to recover any body parts despite the shocking confession of her husband. The man, Gurumurthy, a retired Army jawan now working as a security guard, allegedly admitted to killing his wife, P Venkata Madhavi, dismembering her body, boiling the parts, and disposing of them in a lake near Jillelaguda on the city’s outskirts.
Investigators are relying on forensic and technical evidence to verify the claims. “We cannot proceed solely based on the confession. We are collecting scientific and technical evidence to establish the facts,” stated Commissioner of Police G. Sudheer Babu. Despite his confession, no arrest has been formally recorded yet, though Gurumurthy remains in custody.
Gurumurthy told police he acted in a fit of rage after a heated argument with Madhavi, during which he allegedly struck her against a wall, resulting in her immediate death. He then reportedly used kitchen knives to dismember her body, boiled the parts in a pressure cooker for hours, and ground the bones with a mortar and pestle. According to unnamed sources, the flesh and powdered bones were discarded in various locations, including a nearby lake.
As part of the investigation, police have recovered items such as a pressure cooker, water heater, and knives that may have been used in the gruesome act. However, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ch. Praveen Kumar revealed that no body parts have been recovered, making it challenging to confirm the sequence of events. “It appears to be a crime committed in a fit of anger, not premeditated, but we are still probing every angle,” he said.
The case came to light when Madhavi’s mother, Subamma, reported her missing on January 18, two days after Madhavi had reportedly left home following an argument with Gurumurthy. Police are continuing their investigation, trying to piece together the grim details of the crime while searching for tangible evidence to substantiate Gurumurthy’s confession.
