At least ten militants were killed in a confrontation with CRPF personnel in the Jiribam district of Manipur on Monday. The clash erupted after militants launched an attack on a CRPF camp. During the gunfight, one CRPF jawan was injured and has been airlifted to a hospital for treatment.

This incident comes amid months of rising ethnic violence in the region, which has claimed over 200 lives and displaced thousands. The ongoing conflict between the Meitei community, centered in Imphal, and the Kuki community from the hill areas of Manipur began in May of the previous year.

In a related incident, armed militants set fire to multiple shops in the Borobekra subdivision. At around 2:30 pm, they opened fire at the Borobekra police station before moving towards Jakurador Karong, where they engaged in further arson.

Militants also continued their attacks on farmers on Monday, with one farmer being shot at from a nearby hilltop in Imphal East district. This marks the third consecutive day of such attacks on farmers in the Imphal Valley. Security forces returned fire, leading to a brief exchange of gunfire. The injured farmer was rushed to Yaingangpokpi PHC and is currently reported to be in stable condition.

Additionally, security forces have seized a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and IEDs during recent operations across both hill and valley districts. A joint team of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police conducted searches in Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts over the past three days, recovering various firearms and explosives.

The security situation in Manipur remains volatile, with ongoing operations by security forces aimed at restoring stability to the region.
