IndiGo, one of India’s leading airlines, has been ranked among the “world’s worst airlines” in the 2024 AirHelp Score report, placing 103rd out of 109 with an overall score of 4.80. This ranking was largely attributed to customer dissatisfaction and insufficient handling of flight disruption claims. However, IndiGo has strongly disputed the survey’s validity, criticizing its methodology and raising concerns about the lack of transparency regarding the Indian sample size.

The AirHelp Score evaluates airlines based on three core criteria: punctuality, service quality, and claims processing, each weighted equally in the final score. The data, collected between January and October, considered factors such as on-time performance, customer reviews on food, comfort, and service, as well as efficiency in claims handling. The survey included airlines from 54 countries around the world.

At the top of the rankings, Brussels Airlines claimed first place with a score of 8.12, followed by Qatar Airways (8.11) and United Airlines (8.04). Among Indian carriers, Air India ranked 61st with a score of 6.15. Tunisair landed at the bottom, rated as the worst airline with a score of 3.38.

In response to its low ranking, IndiGo highlighted its strong track record in punctuality and minimal customer complaints, reiterating its focus on providing affordable, reliable, and hassle-free services. The airline also criticized the survey’s methodology, particularly its lack of transparency regarding the representation of Indian data.

“As India’s most preferred airline, IndiGo refutes the findings of this survey,” the airline stated, reaffirming its commitment to passenger satisfaction.
