Honda Activa Electric: What to Expect from Honda’s Upcoming EV Scooter
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, the two-wheeler arm of the Japanese automotive giant, is set to enter the electric vehicle (EV) segment with its much-anticipated electric scooter. Dubbed the Honda Activa Electric, the new model will officially debut on November 27. The company has been building excitement through teaser videos, offering glimpses of the scooter’s key features.
Removable Battery System
The latest teaser emphasizes the Activa Electric’s innovative removable battery setup, featuring two batteries located under the seat. This design aligns with Honda’s global strategy of swappable battery technology, previously seen in models like the CUV-e. The CUV-e’s 1.3 kWh removable batteries deliver a range of over 70 km per charge, and a similar approach is expected for the Activa Electric.
The teaser also demonstrates the swapping process at a battery charging station. Riders can insert one removable battery into the scooter’s slot while using an already-installed unit. Although specific technical details are yet to be revealed, earlier hints suggest the Activa Electric will offer a range exceeding 100 km on a full charge.
Advanced Features
The Activa Electric is expected to include a TFT display, enhancing connectivity options for riders. It will also feature two riding modes—standard and sport—allowing users to choose their preferred riding style. Modern touches like LED lighting further elevate its design and functionality.
Competing in a Growing Market
Upon its launch, the Honda Activa Electric will join a competitive market, going head-to-head with models like the TVS iQube, Ather Rizta, and Bajaj Chetak. With its advanced features, swappable battery system, and expected robust performance, Honda aims to carve a strong position in the burgeoning electric scooter segment.
